This is tricky, and I still don't fully understand it. Some hints for those still stuck:

Hint 3: [spoiler]I don't really know why, but apparently the business about "taking one back" and/or "above left" means that the first letter of 14.26.6 is shifted back (-1), but the others are shifted forward (+1). The 15.8.4 are all shifted right.[/spoiler]
